Alpine Radio will host present a Tribute Program to remember Ian Erbacher (Mr P) who passed away on Saturday 3rd October. The program will air from the Alpine Radio studio.

The program will be presented by his colleagues from Alpine Radio, from 12 noon to 3pm on Friday 30th October when his normal “High Country” program would be on. We will play songs that Ian liked to play on High Country, The Year That Was and Valley Sports, and we will ask friends and colleagues to say a few words about Ian’s life.

Ian was born in Mount Beauty, lived here all of his 63 years, and was a life member of the Bogong Clay Target Club (a member there for 44 years), a keen bowler with Dederang Bowls Club, and a life member and founding member of Alpine Radio.

Alpine Radio listeners are welcome to call the station on 5754 4554 to say a few words or request a favourite song of Ian’s.

Make staying connected a new daily routine

R U OK? is calling on Australians to include staying connected in their daily routine as they deal with the lasting impact of the Coronavirus.

R U OK? CEO, Katherine Newton says the virus has affected everyone in some way and we all need to actively seek ways to connect, and in some cases reconnect, with those in our world who might be struggling.

“The pandemic has inspired some wonderful examples of how caring our community can be and we need to hold on to that because that sense of genuine care and concern can be life changing for those grappling with the impact of recent events.

"Some people find change pretty scary,” said Ms Newton. “Many might be feeling disconnected from day to day life, have new financial and employment pressures, added family stressors, be physically unwell, or experiencing heightened levels of anxiety.

To #StayConnected:
• Create a list: Think about who in your world, personal or professional, near or far who might be struggling.
• Dedicate the time: Make ‘time to ask’ as part of your daily routine.
• Choose your channel: Communicate in way that works for you both: make a phone call, send an SMS, video call, email or, if you can meet in person you might want to chat over the fence, go for a walk together or catch up for a cuppa.

Support Nick Brown this Dry July

5/7/2020

Dry July is a fundraiser that encourages you to go alcohol-free in July to raise funds for people affected by cancer. The funds you raise as part of your Dry July will provide invaluable services for cancer patients, their families and carers – whether it’s a lift to a life-saving appointment, guidance from a specialist nurse, connection to an informative voice, access to therapy programs or a bed close to treatment.

Having a month off alcohol also has great health benefits, such as sleeping better, having more energy and of course, no hangovers! So you're not only helping others, you're helping yourself. It's a win-win!

Alpine Radio is getting behind President, Nicholas Brown as he does a Dry-ish July. Nick has signed up to the 21 day challenge which means he will go alcohol free for 21 days this July to help raise funds for people affected by cancer. Nick says, “as many of you know, this is very important so I'd be pleased if you can help me get to my target of $500 and we might pay for a Breast Care Nurse for McGrath Foundation, or assist in cancer research.”

Help Nick Brown reach his fundraising target of $500 by donating to his fundraising page here.

You can find out more about the Dry July Campaign here.

Every donation makes a difference for people affected by cancer.

National Reconciliation Week 27th May to 3rd June

National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The dates for National Reconciliation Week remain the same each year; 27 May to 3 June.

This year's theme for #NRW2020 – In this together – is now resonating in ways we could not have foreseen when it was announced last year, but it reminds us whether in a crisis or in reconciliation we are all #InThisTogether.

There are some great resources on NRW's website which will enable you to share, support and celebrate National Reconciliation Week 2020 by tuning-in to a host of virtual events, and by joining in on the conversation online.

Stay safe and healthy, and be involved with your local community – because we are #InThisTogether2020.

You can find out more about National Reconciliation Week if you visit Reconciliation Australia’s website here.
